TACLIIM Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 August 2026
TACLIIM is an app for Islamic study groups. Teachers run classes, students
join them, and the app keeps the register. This page explains what the app
records about you, who can see it, and how to get rid of it.
This policy covers the TACLIIM Android app (package
com.tacliim.so) and the server it talks to at
tacliimmeeting.com.
1. What we collect
What you give us
- Your account — your name, your email address, your
password, and whether you are a teacher or a student. A profile photo if
you choose to add one.
- What you send in a group — text messages, voice notes,
and photos.
- Photos, with the location taken out. A picture from a
phone camera normally carries hidden information, including where it was
taken. Every photo you send is re-made on our server before it is stored,
and that removes the location, the camera model and the original
timestamp. We do this even though the app already removes it before
sending, because a promise that depends on the app behaving is not a
promise.
- Absence reasons — if you tell your teacher why you
missed a class, we store the name and phone number you enter and the
reason you write. Please note that whatever you type here is read by your
teacher, so do not include anything you would not want them to know.
What the app records as you use it
- Attendance — during a lesson the server asks whether you
are still there. Your answer, or the absence of one, is recorded against
that lesson.
- Which groups you are in, and whether you are currently
online in one. The app sends a signal roughly every thirty seconds while
you have a group open, so the class can see who is present.
- Your reading — your Qur'an bookmarks and the page you
last read, and the same for books you download. See section 6: this is
yours alone.
- How far you have read in each group, so the app can show
you how many messages are waiting. It is a single number per group — the
last message you have seen — not a record of what you read or when.
- A notification token for your handset, so we can send
you a message alert. It is deleted when you log out, and also removed
automatically once the handset stops accepting notifications — for
example after you uninstall the app.
What we never collect
- Your location.
- Your contacts.
- Your SMS messages or your call history.
- Anything for advertising. There is no advertising in TACLIIM and no
advertising network in it.
The app asks for the camera and the microphone so you can take part in a
video lesson, and for permission to show notifications. It asks for Bluetooth
so a headset works during a call. It does not use any of these outside a
lesson.
2. How we use it
- To sign you in and show you the right groups.
- To deliver your messages to your class, and theirs to you.
- To run the attendance check during a lesson and produce the register your
teacher sees.
- To tell you a new message has arrived.
- To put you back on the page you stopped at.
That is the whole list. We do not profile you, we do not build an advertising
picture of you, and we do not sell your information to anybody.
3. Video and voice lessons
Video lessons run on our own server, not on a commercial video service. The
picture and sound pass through a machine we rent and administer in Frankfurt,
Germany. We do not record lessons, and no video or audio from a
lesson is stored on our server or sent to any other company.
4. Notifications
Message notifications are delivered by Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging,
because that is the only way an Android phone can be woken by a message when
the app is closed. Google receives your handset's notification token and the
fact that a notification was sent.
The notification itself says only the name of the group and that a new
message has arrived. It deliberately does not include who sent it or
what it says, because a lock screen is visible to whoever is holding
the phone.
Attendance checks send no notification at all. They appear inside the lesson
you are already in, so there is nothing to send to a phone that is not looking
at it.
5. Who else sees your information
Three companies, each for one narrow purpose:
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — delivers
notifications, as described above.
- Resend — sends our email. They handle the address a
message is going to and the message itself: password reset links, and
notices telling a teacher their account was approved or refused. No other
information reaches them.
- DigitalOcean — rents us the server the app runs on, and
answers the addresses for our domain. They operate the machine; they are
not given your data to use.
Beyond that: your teacher and the other members of a group see what you post
in that group, your name, your photo, and your attendance for that class. An
administrator of your school can see the same. Nobody outside your groups can.
We will hand over information if the law requires it, and for no other
reason.
6. What stays private even from your teacher
Some things the app knows about you are never shown to a teacher, a group,
or anyone else:
- Your Qur'an bookmarks and the page you last read.
- Anything you have searched for in the Qur'an.
- Which books you have downloaded and how far through them you are.
These exist so the app can put you back where you were. They are yours.
7. Where it is kept, and for how long
Everything is stored on our server in Frankfurt, Germany. Passwords are
hashed, never stored as you typed them. Traffic between the app and the server
is encrypted.
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. When you delete
your account it is removed immediately — there is no thirty-day grace period
and no archived copy waiting to expire. See section 8.
8. Your rights
- See it — most of it is on your own screen. Ask us for the
rest.
- Correct it — you can change your name, photo and password
in the app.
- Delete it — you can delete your account yourself, from
Profile, at any time. It is immediate and permanent. Full details,
including what is kept and why, are on the
account deletion page.
9. Age
TACLIIM is for adults. You must be 18 or over to hold an account. The app is
not directed at children and we do not knowingly hold information about them.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles your information, we will change this page
and update the date at the top. If the change is a significant one, we will say
so in the app.
